Thanaka powder

Thanaka wood is a traditional, fragrant tree from Myanmar (Hesperethusa crenulata). Its bark and wood have been used for more than 2,000 years to create a natural skincare product. The wood is ground on a stone slab (Kyauk Pyin) to make a powder or paste, which is used as a face pack to help with sunburn, acne, and to keep the skin cool.

Main features and uses of Thanaka wood:

• Natural ingredient: It is a completely natural ingredient without harmful chemicals and is considered a symbol of beauty and culture among Myanmar women.
• Skin benefits: Thanaka paste helps control excess oil, makes the skin brighter and softer, and acts as a natural sunscreen.

• Availability: Nowadays, besides the wood itself, authentic Thanaka powder is also available and can simply be mixed with water to make a paste.

Recommended use:
Generally, using it 2–3 times per week is considered best for the skin.
