Greek Chios (Xios) Mastic Gum (Mastiha/Mastixa)
Chios Mastic Gum is a 100% natural resin harvested from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia), which grows almost exclusively on the Greek island of Chios. It is collected by hand and forms small, crystal-like "tears" that can be chewed like natural gum or ground into powder for cooking and skincare.
Benefits
- Freshens breath naturally
- Helps support oral hygiene
- Traditionally used to aid digestion
- Rich in natural antioxidants
- Free from artificial colours, flavours, and preservatives
How to Use
-
As chewing gum: Place 1–2 tears in your mouth. They may feel brittle at first but will soften as you chew.
-
For cooking: Grind into a fine powder and use in desserts, breads, pastries, or ice cream.
-
For beverages: Add a small amount to teas or traditional Greek recipes.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. During warm weather, the resin may soften or stick together, so refrigeration can help keep the tears firm.
